Poetry From the Mind of Talia: Back to Cocoa Beach

Backstory

For my intro to creative writing class, we had to turn in a portfolio filled with 8-10 poems. Back to Cocoa Beach is a reverse poem meaning the poem is in reverse like how you would reverse a movie or a tv show from the beginning(I hope that makes sense) and is about my dad's wedding that happened last year.

I hope you enjoy it!

 Back to Cocoa Beach

It was like the ants coming back to the hill

As the water was being pulled back into

The water bottle

Just like that water in that water bottle

My tears rolled into my eyes

As if never there

The words my father and his new bride had said

Was taken back like a bad joke

We all walked back to the cars

Trying to get away from the sand

That was heated up by the scorching Sun

Only for it to tag team with the wooden dock

Digging into our feet as it passed us

To the gravelly road

Dusting our feet to make room for the pebbles

Whose home is now our feet until we make it

To the cars where they decide they didn’t

Want to live there anymore

Did our feet not live up to their expectations?

One by one we pulled out of the lot

Driving backwards to the place

We got dressed at

We’re rushing back into the hot sun

Back inside to strip the fancy attire

Changing into something more

Comfy

Like shorts and a T-shirt

Back to the cars

Back to the clubhouse, we were staying

Me trudging around looking for my bed

Instead of my father

The sunrise turned to a sunset as I went back to sleep

Excited about my dad’s wedding

Back At It Again

 Hello my utopians!

It's been months since my last post and a lot has happened since then. First thing first, I'm out of high school!!!! I did it ladies and gentlemen I graduated, with honors might I add😁. Honestly I always fantasied my graduation day and actually walking across that stage to get my diploma was so surreal.

I turned 18 in July (where my July babies at👀🌞) and according to the law I'm an adult now. It's interesting how time flies. It seems like just last week I was trying to figure out my plans for the future. Speaking of which, in a couple of days I'll be off to college pursuing my creative writing major. Honestly, I feel very refreshed and ready to get back to you guys. This will still be a writing blog with a sprinkle of me adjusting to college life.

There also might be a few changes to the blog to accommodate my newfound adulthood🤣

Have a fantastic Monday!

Growing Up

Bitmoji Image

I remember when I was a little kid I didn't want to grow up. I wanted to stay a kid forever.

Of course, deep down we all want to be kids again and go back to when the world wasn't so bad. When all we had to worry about was what's going to be on tv.

Being a kid was great, but we all have to grow up sooner or later.  If you think about it, growing up doesn't mean you have to stop being a child.  There's a time to be a child and a time to be an adult.

At the end of the day, don't rush the stages of growing up. Cherish each day or else you might miss something😉

The lyrics will be in blue
Enjoy the story:

Joseph went into his dressing room, exhausted from having to perform for six hours straight. He was drinking water when the door opened. "That was some performance," his sister said sarcastically.

He asked, "What do you want?"

"You haven't been yourself since you became famous. I just think it's time for you to come home and quit."

"Ayy, Panini, don't you be a meanie. Thought you wanted me to go up?" Joseph snapped at her.

"I do, but-"

"I thought you wanted this for my life. For my life," Joseph said getting mad. Panini was the one who wanted him to be a singer. She was the one who pushed him to perform. Now she wants him to quit this life that he was used to?

"Said you wanted to see me thrive, you lied."

"I didn't-"

"Say to me what you want from me! Just say to me what you want from me!" Joseph yelled cutting her off again.

"To come home!" Panini yelled," I want you to come home and be my big brother again." Panini ran from the room leaving Jospeh feeling like a lousy brother.

Guess That Song Pt 4

Hey Guys! It's time for Guess That Song!

For today's Guess That Song, I present you a story my ten-year-old brother wrote using lyrics from a song.

The first one to guess the song correctly gets a shout out! Lyrics are in blue.

Here we go:

One time Eric was at home upset because of his life. Then his friend Jake came to his room. "What is wrong Eric?" Jake asked.

"It's because of my life and everything." Then Jake said, "Hey now you're an all-star get your game on and go play boi." So Eric did.

Guess That Song Pt 3

Hey guys! Happy Monday!
It's time to play GUESS...THAT...SONG!
     Bitmoji Image

The first one to guess the song correctly gets a shout out! The lyrics of the song are blue.

Let's play:

"Why men great 'til they gotta be great?" Sydney asked. Sarah shrugged and took a sip of her soda.  Suddenly Sydney's phone buzzed. She picked it up and rolled her eyes.

"What's wrong?" Sarah asked.
"Just a text from Chad," Sydney answered and then dialed Chad's number.
"Hello?"
"Don't text me, tell it straight to my face," Sydney said into the phone.

"You're 'posed to hold me down, but you're holding me back Sydney," Chad said.

"You know what I'm going to get a shampoo press, get you out of my hair." With that Sydeny hung up the phone.

"You tell him girl," Sarah praised.

Guess That Song pt2

Hey guys, it's time for Guess That Song!
Remember, the first one to guess correctly gets a shout out(on both blog an Instagram)!

Let's Begin
The lyrics are blue:

Kyle stared Jamie down, seeing her eyes wet with tears. "I don't really care if you cry. On the real you should've never lied," Kyle sneered as Jamie blinked tears away. Jamie had lied to everyone about who she really was. A spy for Blue, Kyle's archenemy.

Kyle turned away from Jamie and looked out at all the destruction before him. "Because of you all my friends are dead," he whispered.

(I read the story to my mom to see if she can guess the song, and she said I'm so dramatic😂)

Guess That Song!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you guys are ready to play... GUESS THAT SONG!!!
Woo! I've chosen an easy song that I'm sure all of you will know.

Below is a little story, and the lyrics of the song are in a different color(blue).
Remember the first one to guess correctly, gets a shoutout!

Here we go:

"Billy Joe where you been?" Sallie-Mae asked.

"I been in the valley, while you ain't been off that porch," Billie-Joe responded. Sallie-Mae smacked her gums.

"You can't tell me nothin, you wannabe cowboy," Sallie-Mae retorted. Billie-Joe shrugged, "Hey, my hat is matte black and got the boots that's black to match so why not?" Sallie-Mae just rolled her eyes.

"I'm guessing you're going to the old town road."

Billie-Joe nodded. "Yeah, I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road. I'm gonna ride til I can't no more.

"You are such a cowboy," Sallie-Mae sighed. Billie-Joe just smiled.

Think you figured it out? You can post your answer on here, or on my Instagram @hercoolutopia.

Winner and answer will be posted next Monday!

Virginia

Bitmoji Image

Hey guys, I hope you're having a wonderful Monday!

I was offline for the past week because I was in Virginia on vacation. I went to Mansuntten Resort, and I enjoyed every second of it.

I even went ziplining! It was so thrilling that my legs couldn't stop shaking.

I also did karaoke which was my favorite part out of the whole trip. You can check it out on my Instagram @hercoolutopia.

The scenery in Virginia was so beautiful.

I enjoyed the trip, but to be honest I was ready to come back to my home state, Georgia.

A short story is coming on Wednesday for Writing Wednesday.

Music Monday:Fight Back by Neffex

Happy Music Monday! Today's song is...

Image result for neffex fight back
Fight Back by Neffex

This is a song to listen to if you need to get hyped up. It pretty much saying do what you want with your life and don't listen to what people say.

This song is one of my favorites because I had people who weren't really supportive of what I wanted to do. My dad, for example, he really wants me to be a doctor or nurse because it's more of a safe career choice, but that's not what I really want to do though.

I also have a friend who wants to be an entertainer, but her family is saying that she should choose a safer job since it's not guaranteed that she would be successful.

If your willing to put in the work for what you want to be whether it's being a rapper or a lawyer you'll always get some form of payback, and I believe the riskier a job may be the higher the payoff.

I know both my dad and her family they just want us to be successful in life and will actually support what we do. People who tell you not to pursue a career that you want, and they're just saying it to bring you down...
 Don't listen to them.

Instead, listen to this song😁

Music Monday: Legends by Juice Wrld

Today is Music Monday! Today's song is Legends by Juice Wrld

The song is kinda talking about Lil Peep and XXXtentacion. There's a line where it says "This time, it was unexpected. Last time, it was the drugs he was lacing."

X's death was really unexpected while Lil Peep's death was kinda expected since he was using drugs.

While this song may be mainly about Lil Peep and X, it can also be about other fallen legends who went too soon.

It's usually the ones who stand for something that goes down first.

But you know what? Legends never die👊

Music Monday: Perfect World by Ryan Caraveo

Hey guys, it's Music Monday! Today's song is called Perfect World by Ryan Caraveo.

Who wants to live in a perfect world? There would be no crime, pain, and everyone will be happy.
Bitmoji Image

There are most likely people out there who want that, who wants to live in a world free of pain and the bad things in life. It would be nice to live in a world like that, but won't it get boring? Repetitive? Predictable?

Bitmoji Image

The song Perfect World is about a guy not wanting to live in a perfect world. Sure he was hurt and abuse, but through that, he learned how to be strong and push back. When his friend died from an overdose he learned not to use drugs.

If we lived in a perfect world we wouldn't know the consequences of actions. If we live in a perfect world we wouldn't be who we are. Believe it or not, hardships create who we are. It plays a part in our character, our personality. Without them, we would all be the same.

I know our world right now is pretty messed up and horrible, but it brings people together, who stands up for what they believe in.
It can be hard sometimes and you may want to give up, but just know you are strong and will get through it.

Childhood

I remember when I was younger I wasn't able to reach the top cabinet in my kitchen. I would either have to ask my mom for help or use a chair.

Now I can reach it with no problem. Sometimes it amazes me how much I've grown. It seems like yesterday I was a little girl.

There's days when I wish I could go back to being that little girl who couldn't reach the top cabinet.

There were good times and there were bad times, overall it was fun being a kid.

I want to be an adult so bad and it frustrates me how people keep calling me a kid. I thought when you're a teenager people see you as a grown up. Even when I was younger I couldn't wait to grow up.

Thats pretty much what all kids can't wait for. At least before they start missing their childhood.

You learn that the world isn't all sunshines and rainbows. You learn there's people out there who are mean and cruel. It hurts having to leave it all behind.

But hey, being an adult isn't all bad. I wouldn't know since I'm still a teen, but there are adults out there who are enjoying their lives.

There's no way to go back to your childhood or stay a kid forever. All you can really do is prepare yourself and treasure each moment of your life.

Tomorrow is Music Monday!
Tune in around 5pm Eastern Time🤗

Music Monday: Saints by Echo

Happy Monday everyone! It's time for Music Monday and the song that I'll be talking about today is.....

Related image
Photo:uhsecho.com
Saints by Echos.

The song came out on October 8th last year.
I came by this song on YouTube.

The song itself I feel is inspiring. The song is about hypocrites or people who think they can do no wrong. It's pretty much saying that everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect.

We should all accept everyone is not perfect instead of bashing someone as if we never made a mistake in our life or the same one they made.

Morale of the song is: Everyone makes mistakes and it's okay to not be perfect.

I much rather live in a non-perfect world rather than a perfect one(*hint for  next month's Music Monday😉)

Enjoy the rest of your day and see you on Wednesday for the first Writing Wednesday.
